Only One Month Left, Youth Network’s Jessica tells us “Why FunWalk?”

Lavagirl and Sharkboy

Jessica, a leader of ACO's Youth Network and her partner will be going to FunWalk as Lavagirl and Sharkboy. This year, come dressed up as your favourite superhero or supervillain to be part of our costume contest (or just do it for fun).

To me, adoption is the foundation of my entire life; but to others, it may not mean anything at all. To many people it's just a word, which means it's up to us to get the word out. There are many ways I like to spread the word of adoption, but one of personal favourite things that raises awareness is the Adoption Council of Ontario's FunWalk.

Each year I get to dress up, volunteer and watch people come from all over to walk and play to raise awareness about adoption. We make it fun for everybody with games, contests, and music; but my favourite thing at FunWalk is always the people.

Although there are always new people, everyone has a connection. Everybody there connects to adoption on more than just a dictionary level. I think it's that underlying connection that makes it worthwhile. It's the fact that everybody is there to help raise awareness and support adoption in their very own way.

It may not be dressing up and volunteering but it may just be donating your time to come out and spend the afternoon with us. I always look forward to making new connections, plus this year is super hero themed... So I'm pretty sure it's going to be crazy fun!
