For me, as for many of you this past Family Day weekend was different from ones in the past.
We often took advantage of the longer weekend (and with the Friday being a PD day for a couple of my kids, trust me it's a looooooong weekend) to catch up and socialize with family and friends but of course that was not the case this year. While the pandemic made this Family Day weekend different for me and my family this year, for thousands of young people in Ontario, Family Day 2021 was the same as every year—one more reminder of something they do not have.
Never Too Late is a program in partnership with the ACO that gives back to young people who have aged out of care the opportunity to find a family to rely on. Why? Because we believe that every young person has the right to belong with people who love and value them unconditionally throughout their life! Something we want for every young person we care about, right?
NTL works to recruit, connect, educate and train, support and advocate, in order to give back to young people who have aged out of care the chance to have a family to rely on, no matter their age.
One key element of the NTL program is offering the young people involved the space and opportunity to connect, share, and build community amongst themselves as they navigate young adulthood whether recently finding a permanent family or still waiting.
You can support this crucial program that allows these young people the chance to gather and support one another in a way only they can by donating here!
Beginning with Chloe’s letter to you last week, over the following weeks you will continue to hear from people touched by the NTL program how the Youth Connections Network has impacted their life and what it would mean if that Network was not there for them.
You will see an amazing short video some of the team put together at the top of this email discussing what this program means to them. I hope that you are as moved and inspired as I am everyday to help them in anyway I can.
