Preparation training for Prospective Adoptive Parent(s)

Meeting the needs of adopted children is now recognized in Ontario as essential for all adoptions whether public, private or international. PRIDE is the standardized educational training program to prepare all applicant families to foster or adopt children.

Learning about therapeutic parenting

It is believed that all children who are adopted have special needs. AdoptOntario helps parents understand these needs and provides information and resources in support.

Shared Experiences

Miles

Miles is a social butterfly who loves to show off his hearty laugh and a big smile with those around him. He is very inquisitive and very aware of his environment and wants to “be in the know.” He is a content little one who loves nothing more than to be cuddled and held.

ACT is more than just a training program. It provides a new lens to look at adoption and permanency through. This lens is a shift in the why and how we do things not just information being given and you have to figure out how to put it into practice.

Lots of clear, helpful, useful, and practical examples and strategies. We better understand the concept of attachment, its issues, and enjoyed being able to share our thoughts and questions as a group.

“At bedtime and saying her night time prayers, my daughter said a special prayer for her kids group and how much fun she had.”
