Recruiting for Your Children & Families

Using AdoptOntario

The AdoptOntario program builds critical connections to support permanency for children and youth in Extended Society Care and has been instrumental in placing over 475 children and youth with their permanency families. Since the inception of AdoptOntario in 2006, over 50,000 families have registered on AdoptOntario from 824 communities across Ontario.

Below is an overview of how the AdoptOntario program supports these connections:

Getting Started

If you are an adoption professional that is new to AdoptOntario, here’s how you can get started:

Training

  • Sign up for a training account. The training account will allow you to explore the functions of AdoptOntario Professional in a practice site that is not linked to the Databank or any confidential information. A red banner at the top of the page will indicate that it is the training site.
  • Complete the introductory training webinar. To sign up for our on-demand AdoptOntario Professional Webinar, click here or email [email protected] with the subject line “Training Webinar”.

Sign up for a professional account

  • When you are ready to get started on the professional site, you can sign-up for an account here.
  • After reviewing and accepting the User Agreement and Privacy Policy, you will be directed to the sign-in page. Once you have provided the required information and verified it in the follow-up email, your application will be reviewed by one of AdoptOntario’s Clinical Coordinators; they will then confirm the registration with your supervisor.
  • You will receive an email to let you know that your account has been approved and that you have access to the Professional Site.

Clinical Support

Clinical Coordinators collaborate with both families and adoption professionals using features such as the Databank, Waiting Child Listing, Kids Korner, and Adoption Resource Events to maximize opportunities for permanency. Whether you are just starting out, looking to develop a targeted recruitment approach, or have any other questions about the various aspects of the AdoptOntario program, Clinical Coordinators are here to help! You can reach them at [email protected] or 1-877-236-7820. You can also access the AdoptOntario Professional FAQs here.

Resources and Training

There are numerous resources and training opportunities available to support adoption professionals using the AdoptOntario site. You can access a number of these resources under Forms and Documents on the AdoptOntario Databank, including the AdoptOntario Professional Handbook, which offers a step-by-step guide to the AdoptOntario program.
