The concept of the “Galaxy of Adoption” encompasses everyone who is part of the adoption journey. Adoption involves and impacts many more people than the child or youth and their adoptive parents. When a child or youth joins a new family, both birth and adoptive families are connected forever, even if they never see one another. Adoptive families must adjust to their role as well as members of their extended family. A similar process will unfold in the birth family. As everyone experiences adoption, they will probably reach out to other members of the community to support them in their transition.
