AdoptOntario is pleased to invite you to a Child and Youth Profile Night on Tuesday, July 26th. This is an opportunity for you to learn about an amazing youth who is waiting for an adoptive family. Register now!
The event will begin with a day in the life of this amazing young person and will be followed by a presentation by the child’s worker and an educational panel discussion. The evening will include an educational component led by those with lived experience who are part of the Never Too Late (NTL) community, providing permanency to youth. The 15-minute presentation will include information about what supports are available through NTL to those welcoming 15+ year-olds. There will also be a 30-minute panel presentation of people with lived experience that will explore building relationships with youth, the impact of trauma on attachment, and how to navigate the hopes, expectations, and realities of being a permanency family. Meet the Youth Deacon is a naturally athletic and active seventeen-year-old who has become quite an expert in woodworking. He has an interest in trades including construction, and enjoys participating in sports and board games. Deacon is open to a few permanency options. He has a positive view of adoption but is also open to a family who is willing to provide him with understanding, support, and consistency whether that may include adoption or not. He very much wants his own people to not only share the good times with him but also be there for him when life presents him with difficult moments. Deacon is looking for a single applicant or a family where there is at least one male caregiver who lives in a rural or urban area. It is important to him to live in Southwestern/Central Ontario where he would be able to access public transportation. Deacon is open to living with other youth around his age and/or pets!

Recommended Webinars The Adoption Council of Ontario provides specialized training and education for all those touched by adoption and permanency journeys. There is a framework for understanding adoption and permanency journeys and all those living these journeys can benefit from this knowledge. In preparation for Deacon’s Profile Night, we welcome you to watch free on-demand webinars on openness and older child adoption.
What to Expect at Our Child and Youth Profile Night At the event, you will learn more about a youth who is seeking adoptive parent(s), as well as information and resources about permanency and adoption. Never Too Late (NTL) will provide you with information about the program and lead the educational component for the evening. The presentation will be led by an AdoptOntario Clinical Coordinator, and will be accompanied by the youth’s adoption worker. They will provide you with information about the youth’s interests, personality, needs, supports, and what permanency would look like for them. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to hear from and ask questions to either an adoption professional or adoptive parent(s) regarding their experiences within adoption, and to have your questions answered.
