Pathways to Permanence is a multi-sessional psycho-educational program

Why This Weekend Matters

Take a break from the demands of everyday life and immerse yourself in a weekend of learning and renewal. The Pathways Family Weekend is designed to help parents deepen their understanding of their child’s needs while restoring their own sense of balance and connection. You’ll leave feeling more equipped to support your child—and yourself—on the journey of adoption.

Eligibility:

Our free Pathways program is currently available to adoptive parents (including those pre-finalization) and foster-to-adopt parents who have adopted or are fostering-to-adopt through a children’s aid society, in line with Ministry funding guidelines.

Exciting News! We also offer Pathways for Kinship Caregivers, as well as a Pathways for families who have adopted internationally, privately, or are fostering without a view. (on a fee for service basis). If you would like to be kept in the loop on when these new offerings become available, please be sure to sign up for our waitlist.

Commitment: 

This Pathways offering includes virtual, self-paced, and in-person sessions. To complete the course, parents are required to attend all sessions, outlined as follows:

• • • Self-study course work prior to the start of the program, and some during the program.
    • one three-hour online session pre-weekend
    • attendance at all Pathways sessions for the in-person weekend (outlined below)
    • two, three-hour online sessions post-weekend

Location: Online portions will take place over Zoom; the in-person weekend will take place at the Americana Resort & Conference Centre

Who: This training is for parents and caregivers where a placement has already occurred.

Cost: Free. Thanks to funding from the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

Childcare: Childcare is provided by professional Child and Youth Workers for children ages 3 to 13 years during the in person segments.  We aren’t able to accommodate children under the age of 3 years old and/or children who are still toilet training at this event.

Technical Requirements for Online Sessions:

• Laptop or desktop computer with a working webcam and microphone.
• Stable internet connection (minimum speed: 10 Mbps).
• A private space where only Pathways participants are present (no children or teens)

Trainer(s): This program will be facilitated by ACO PACT Program trainers.

Certificate: A certificate of completion is available after the offering is complete.
