It won’t take long to be charmed by Maverick; with his sweet smile and bright, beautiful eyes, he captures hearts and leaves a lasting impression. He is a loving and affectionate youth who truly enjoys closeness, whether he’s being held, cuddled, or sharing giggles during play. He loves his toys, spending time outside at the park and being around other children. Maverick especially enjoys those moments where everyone is together but engaged in their own play, happily focusing on his toys while sharing the space.

Play is such a joyful and meaningful part of Maverick’s day, and it beautifully supports his development. He enjoys building with Duplo blocks, using his hands with intention and determination to connect about five or so pieces together. With guidance, he’s also learning to sort familiar foods like apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, and carrots. Maverick has been learning the names of many foods and is proud to point them out when asked.

Personality	Academics
Maverick has a big, loving heart and naturally shows warmth and affection to the people he cares about. He hopes to share that love with an adoptive family one day. Maverick takes comfort in familiar routines, which allows him to build independence. While he has the skills to complete some tasks on his own, he continues to benefit from supervision and guidance along the way. He responds well to direction and routines and takes pride in doing his best each day.	Maverick is attending a full-time specialized program at school to support his developmental needs. He is doing well in the classroom and has a great time at school, especially when he takes the bus to and from school. Maverick has had great progress with his fine motor skills and sometimes benefits from hand-over-hand support when using scissors or writing utensils.
Openness	Special Considerations
Openness has been known to help children and youth with their sense of belonging. It would be important for Maverick to keep in contact with his first family members through video calls. Maverick has a connection with his caregivers and would love to maintain contact with them as well.	Maverick is working on developing his skills at his own pace. He benefits from developmental services to build his skills. He is currently working with speech and language professionals to improve his communication. He uses a few single words, some sign language, and an iPad app to communicate. And sometimes he’ll use gestures or take your hand to show you what he wants and needs.

A single or two-parent caregiver(s) with or without children is being sought for Maverick. He will need a family that will support his religious beliefs as he only eats Halal meats, and enjoys celebrating Islamic holidays.
