Eligibility:
Due to our current funding guidelines, outlined by the Ministry, participants must be an adoptive parent (including parents pre adoption finalization) or a foster-to-adopt parent, and must have adopted (or be fostering-to-adopt) through a children’s aid society, to attend our free Pathways program.

Please note: we are working to make Pathways available to other parent types (Customary Care, Kinship, Legal Guardian, International Adoptions, Private Adoptions), and hope to be able to offer them soon. If you would like to be kept in the loop on when these new offerings become available, please be sure to sign-up for our newsletter.

Important note: we do incur costs for cancellations, and we need to limit costs as much as possible in order to be able to continue offering events such a this one. Please take this into consideration when making your commitment to attend this event.

Pathways Participant Acknowledgement re Use of Zoom for Pathways trainings

For security and confidentiality purposes the ACO is using Zoom for Pathways with the following parameters in place:

- ACO will be using only paid Zoom subscription accounts which have a higher level of security (vs. free accounts).
- All Pathways Zoom meetings will be set up using a link with a built-in password.
- All Pathways Zoom meetings will be set up with a waiting room that the trainers will use to control entry of known Pathways participants. Trainers may choose to “lock” the rooms as well.
- Zoom links will only be sent to participants after intake calls and not be posted publicly.
- Zoom links are not to be shared with others.
- Pathways sessions will not be recorded by the ACO or the trainers. Participants are not permitted to record the sessions or parts thereof.
- Pathways participants should use a private space to take part in the Zoom Pathways sessions. No one other than participants should be present. This includes children.
- The use of headphones by all participants is encouraged to protect the privacy of other participants and the discussions.
- The use of participant video “on” is strongly encouraged to help us all build a sense of community among one another.

Despite establishing these parameters, ACO cannot guarantee 100% security and confidentiality through the Zoom platform and therefore participants should consider the extent of information they might want to share during the training. All materials distributed for the Pathways to Permanence 2 program are copyrighted and owned by the Kinship Center^©, and used under license by the Adoption Council of Ontario (“ACO”) unless otherwise noted and permission for use has been obtained from the copyright holder.

Kinship Center has licensed use and dissemination of this material to ACO for the personal use by the individual named below who registered to participate in Pathways to Permanence 2 program. Duplication for sale of any Pathways to Permanence 2 material is expressly prohibited. Any video or audio files I receive during the course of the Pathway training are for personal use only, for the duration of the training program. These files cannot be shared or used in any other manner or in any other timeframe. These files will be deleted after the completion of the Pathways training.

Full Program Commitment

Pathways is a psycho-educational training; this Pathways offering consists of virtual, self-paced, and in-person sessions. To complete the course, parents are required to attend all sessions, outlined as follows:

- - Self-study course work prior to the start of the program, and some during the program.
  - one three-hour online session pre-weekend
  - attendance at all Pathways sessions for the weekend of Fri, Nov 13 - Sun, Nov 15
  - two three-hour online sessions post-weekend

Additional Weekend Information

Families will be welcomed on the evening of Friday, November 13, to sign in for the weekend and check into the rooms. The weekend will come to a close in the afternoon on Sunday, November 15.

A full schedule and program details will be provided upon confirmation of each family's registration, following each applicant's intake call.

Childcare will be available for children ages 3 to 13 years; this event cannot accommodate children under the age of 3 years old, children over the age of 13 years old, and/or children who are still toileting.

Childcare Limitations & Parent Expectations

Our childcare providers will not be able to support children who need toileting assistance, nor children who need one-on-one assistance. Parents will be attending Pathways sessions while their children are in childcare; parents are required to stay on the venue grounds while their children are in childcare.

Children are not permitted to attend the Pathways training sessions regardless of their age. This ensures a safe and comfortable environment for all participants. If a childcare provider believes a child needs the support of their parent at any point during a Pathways session, they will be asked to step outside of the class to attend to their child.

Parents are fully responsible for the supervision of their kids outside of childcare hours; please don't leave kids unattended during meals, breaks, and family/after hours time.

Covid-19 and Group Health Considerations

If you or a member of your family is suspected to have COVID-19 you understand that it is within your and the group's best interest to stay home. You also understand that by attending a group event there is a risk of being exposed to COVID-19 or other viruses.

Things to consider for group safety:
- Wear a mask is enclosed group spaces
- Bring hand sanitizer
- Consider testing yourself at home before attending

Masks are not currently a government mandate; you understand that other attendees may or may not be wearing a mask as per their individual comfort level.

If you or a member of your family have a confirmed case of COVID-19 (or any other flus/variants) we ask that you refrain from participating in the in-person weekend for your own health and wellness as well as that of the groups.

Program & Activities Participation Agreement

Please note that the childcare groups will be taking part in many activities over the course of the weekend. Some of these activities that will be scheduled for this weekend, again primarily for the childcare groups (based on age and grade), may involve the risk of physical injury.

Some of these activities may include, but are not limited to:

Nature hikes
Campfires

By participating or allowing your child(ren) to participate in these activities, you/your child(ren) may be taking part in an activity that presents the potential for personal injury, and you assume the risks of doing so. You are responsible for providing, in this application form, any and all appropriate health history that may be needed for physical activity and/or medical intervention in the event of an emergency. In the event of an emergency parents will be notified/retrieved from their session. You are also responsible for identifying if there are particular activities that you aren’t comfortable with, or that your child(ren) aren’t comfortable participating in.
